Colour Spotlight – Navy

Navy Room

It’s no secret that I friggin love dark colours, I mean 90% of my wardrobe is made up of the stuff, and I’ve recently noticed this shift into my interiors style a lot too. With autumn finally upon us I’ve decided to dedicate a whole post to my love of dark interiors and in particular the colour navy!

If you take a quick glance at my Instagram page you will see that the colour navy makes frequent appearances. I can’t help it dark colours make my soul happy lol. To me darker interiors are gloriously cosy and opulent. It’s a very common misconception that using dark colours makes a room feel small but in actual fact, it can also do the opposite and add depth to a smaller space. It creates a sense of grandeur and definitely worth giving a try.

All Navy Everythang!

Go big or go home right! These rooms do just that and more. A good way of creating balance in a dark room is to pair it with lighter finishes. The below for example has a gorgeous light grey rug which is the perfect way to off shoot dark walls.

The below room is navy with no damn apologies! Navy walls and a navy sofa?! Matchy matchy but done right.

Accent Wall Love

If you aren’t brave to go all out, an accent wall is a great way to incorporate a bold colour into a room without too much commitment. It also serves as a great focal point. Top Tip: Jazz up that navy with some gold and brass elements. I mean, it wouldn’t be a GA post without at least a sprinkling of gold right 😉

Accessorise, Accessorise!

If you really not messing with the navy walls but still want to add some colour a great way to do so is through accessories. Think throw pillows, bedding or even dinner flatware. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but dark colours help to ground a space and even a small amount incorporated will help pull together a nice cohesive look.
